The Activate FPT Database Engine service functions group plays a critical role in controlling database service availability in the FPT cloud. It allows administrators to activate the FPT Database Engine Service offering within a VPC scope. Operations in this group impact the overall availability of database service and should only be granted to high-privilege roles such as Tenant Admin or Cloud Platform Admin. Proper role assignment ensures security, stability, and compliance for the DBaaS system.
Required Permissions:
| Permission | Action Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| manageDatabase:ProvisionBackend | Create | Allows activating the FPT Database Engine service within a VPC. |
| manageDatabase:DeactiveBackend | Delete | Allows deactivating the FPT Database Engine service within a VPC. |
When FPT Database Engine service is not yet enabled, users cannot create or manage databases. Enabling the service initializes the required backend components, making FPT Database Engine ready for use. This activation is required only once per VPC and can be performed by following the steps below.
Log in to the FPT Cloud Portal. After logging successfully, from the main menu, select Database Platform > All Databases. The Database Engine Management interface will display as follow:

On the Database Engine Management page, click Activate Service to enable the service. The system will switch to a service activation processing screen. This process may take approximately 8–10 minutes to complete.
Once provisioned, the service status changes to Active, and users can proceed to the Provision database clusters section to create database clusters according to their needs.
Deactivating FPT Database Engine Service will disable all capabilities to create and manage databases within the selected VPC. This action can only be performed when there are no existing database resources in the VPC. Follow the steps below to proceed:
Log in to the FPT Cloud Portal. After logging successfully, from the main menu, select Database Platform > All Databases. The Database Engine Management interface will display as follow:

On the Database Engine Management page, click Deactivate to disable the service. The system will switch to a service deactivation processing screen. This process may take approximately 8–10 minutes to complete.
After deactivation, the service status changes to Inactive, and all operations of the FPT Database Engine service are blocked.
